DIY Elastic Belt

Elastic belts are the hardest thing to find, yet they are so simple to make!

You'll need:

  • Elastic ribbon (I took 1m of it)
  • 2 Pins
  • 1 Needle (take the thickest one you own)
  • Thread (try to take the same color as your elastic)
  • White pencil/chalk
  • Fabric scissors
  • Bikini buckle (you can find these in many sewing shops)

1. Put the elastic ribbon around your waste tightly. Take the white pencil to mark your size and cut!

Tip: Out of the two straps the smallest one was my size, but I took the biggest one by precaution.                              2. Take your bikini buckle and attach it to the ribbon with a pin like in the picture below:

Tip: Take an old rubber cut out two cubes and put it on the sharp end of your pins. Why? Simply because you should try your belt on before sewing - and trust me you do not want to be 'poked' by these things...

3. You can now take your thread and needle and start sewing. When you're done, cut off those ugly threads sticking out of the knots you made.

4. AND (promise you, this is the last step), wear the correct outfit to accompany your new homemade belt! (I would've worn a dress with it but the dresses I had didn't go well with my belt )
