RiObsession ❦

So as I've mentioned in one of my previous post, I've commenced an addiction for this year's World Cup and Brazil. Today, I shall ramble on about this obsession, again, but also unveil the mystery of what to wear in these amazon lands...

Flashin' back to Rio's 2014 Fashion Week

What do you first think about when you hear the famous name 'Rio de Janeiro'? I see a colourful crowd pouring down the streets, like a cascade of paint. I hear the rhythmic and joyful music, accompanied with laughter. Women are dancing, lights are turning, the world is spinning, as this huge event takes place.

Well, in the fashion week, you'll find a glint of those colours - a calmer version of the festive day.

Obviously, what is Rio without a bathing suit catwalk? Lenny Niemeyer shows us, with her catwalk, a smoother version of Rio: A white flow with a delicate explosion of purple, resembling an orchid.
In Triya's collection for Summer 2015, we have a flashier version. One that reminds us more about the dreamy, but humongousourus Carnaval. The dark makeup keeping the eyes very discrete contrast completely with the thready bathing, which has colours varying form the fruitiest purples; going through the harshest red, and ending with the brightest yellow.

What do I wear?

These catwalks are screaming to us what to wear during a hot summer day. What are they screaming so loudly? NO BLACK. That's right. It shall be tough for many of us, as members of the Black Clothes Addiction. But with the beautiful range of colours we can find in store, this season, our problems will be quickly solved.
Left to right dresses: Kate Moss for Topshop, Fruity Dress, Hydeia Dress, Boho Maxi Dress, Paisley Print Maxi Dress [sold out]

Adidas has made a tropical floral print which works perfectly for a voyage in Brazil.
If you're not the type to wear sportswear, opt for a boho chic look! Maxi dresses with a cool retro print will give a relaxed, but nevertheless elegant look.
Before you leave, don't forget to throw in a pair of those famous brazilian flip-flops, Havaianas!Or pretty sandals; Check out Vic's collection!

So which side are you taking? Boho Chic? Or Sporty Lux?

✧✧ My Empties ✧✧

I've spotted this kind of post numerously on my dashboard. I had to wait a little while, though, since I haven't completely emptied all of my products. To tell you the bitter truth, some of the products I'm presenting you are half full (See? I'm being optimistic). But I've had them for long enough to tell you, whether you should quickly add it to your cart, or throw it in the bin.

I think the essential, the key, the heart to makeup is making your skin look flawless. I, personally, don't have a lot of blemishes to cover up, so I opt for a light, airy, tinted cream, also known as BB Cream. I spread it lightly and equally around my face once, then go over those cruel little flaws once more. I've tried out two of these creams and both are great products (but one is a little more greater than the other).
BB Creams are really useful, since they will give you some coverage, but let your skin breathe, too. (If you've got really bad skin, I'd advise you to go for a thicker foundation, though!)

Garnier - This foundation is for oily skin (mine). It is very fluid, which can be a little tricky to deal with when opening. Nevertheless, it is easy and quick to apply. You just need to buy it in the correct skin colour and it will adapt perfectly, and give you a healthy glow! Plus the pricing is reasonable. I completely recommend it!
Rating: 10/10

Nivea - The Nivea Day Dream I have is for dry skin, so it's much more compact than Garnier's one. My skin is a little weird; It shifts from oily-McDonald's style to Sahara-dry on random days, hence the rebound BB Cream for dry skin. I find their lightest colour, in their selection, a little too dark. This foundation isn't a perfect match for my skin so I use it much less.
Rating: 7/10

I've only started wearing eyeliner this year, therefore I've been testing the grounds a little. I tried out notably two, which were very different from each other but didn't quite reach the perfection I was aiming for.

Left: Seventeen Right: Rimmel
Seventeen - This is the first one I ever tried out. I've written my first impressions about it in this post. I've really enjoyed using this product, even though it had a couple of flaws. For example, during the day, the eyeliner fades a little and falls apart. On the plus side, the tip stays hard and makes it easier to apply. I got this in a Christmas deal, so it was cheaper than usual, but the price is still quite low on its own.
Rating: 7.5/10

Rimmel - It is the complete opposite from Seventeen's eyeliner. On one hand, the eyeliner remains perfect all day and stays pitch black. On the other hand, the tip softens more and more as you use it, which makes it a living Hell when applying. It is a little more expensive than the first one, but the portion is a little bigger.
Rating- 7.5/10

I've had many mascaras, but there is only one that stole the spotlight and that's worth writing about.

Rimmel - I chose the waterproof one, which has a higher price than the normal ones. Honestly, I recommend you take the normal ones, since I'm not convinced, that the waterproof-ness actually works. Furthermore, this mascara lengthens and slightly thickens the base of your eyelashes, giving you an adorable Bambi eye. I recommend this product!
Rating: 9.5/10

Nail Polish

I've got trillions of nail polishes, and most of them I've only wore once! At first, I wasn't counting on including a nail polish in this post, but this one is irresistible!

Ciate Boudoir - It isn't the sort of flashy, vulgar red that is referred to in Steinbeck's Of Mice & Men. It's a cherry, summertime and joyful red. The fruity kind that cheers up an ensemble. After two layers, your hands will have a clean finished look for a fresh summer day. I'm not sure about the price, since I got it in the Christmas Calendar in a smaller version. I'm not even close to finishing it, but I'm absolutely in love with the colour!
Rating: 10/10

Here are the empties I have, that were worth talking about.
Have you tried any of the products above? What did you think about it?

When Fashion Meets Football

A couple of days ago, the first match of the Football World Cup 2014: Brazil vs. Croatia. This game sounded promising. Indeed, it was, with all its tremendous stumbling, tumbling, & fumbling! And the referee's queer choices at some points in the game (even though I was cheering for Brazil, I still believe that a referee must stay true to the game and not give any advantages to any team).

The whole world has been bubbling in excitement for the World Cup. That is including Fashion, too. From fun sketches to an awesome mini-collection, we've seen it all!

1- The Football World Cup 2014 Dress

Featuring in Sepp's latest Football Fashion issue is model Aline Weber, rocking a jersey dress dedicated to this year's World Cup by Versace. The footballs decorating the jersey dress with '2014' clearly scripted onto it, in bold numbers, define this item as the perfect combination of fashion & football. The garment is also pleasant to look at with its typically tropical, brazilian, graphic design. The kaleidoscopic style, combined with the flamboyant yellow, delivers a cheerful attitude to this fine piece of work.

Donatella Versace has designed other clothes in this genre for this mini-collection.
I find the cover picture of the magazine, shot by Markus Pritzi, is making a statement: You can be fashionable, but love football nevertheless (which is also what the editor in chief of Sepp, Markus Ebner, had in mind by starting this magazine).

2- Karl's sketching

Out of all the people in this world, Karl Lagerfeld has also taken interest in this international sport event. Karl playing football, Unknown Man crowned with a traditional leaf crown, and Giselle Bundchen rocking the brazilian footballer uniform. These sometimes light-hearted, sometimes very representative-of-culture sketches, drawn by a legendary designer, show again the harmony that has been created between this noble sport and glamourous business.

I'll be following each step of the World Cup and will be rooting for Germany. I've started to develope a little obsession... Oops!

Who are you for?

School during Summer ☼

[Secret dimple, right there!]
I believe that there is nothing worst than school in hot summer: Being stuck in a stuffy, sweaty room is not my cup of tea. In my case, we don't have uniforms, but that does not mean we are allowed to turn up in mini skirts and flip-flops. No. Quite the opposite actually. For the girls, our bottom garment must be at least knee-length if a few inches shorter, you must put tights.

Even though summer in London isn't hardcore like in New York, in other words dangerously humid and high temperatures, it is still hard to dress properly (school-wise & weather-wise). I came up with a few outfits with the lowest price possible, and concentrated on the 'total look blanc', which is uber trendy and uber practical for the season.

The Chic - Sloppy boyfriend jeans, platform sneakers, and a strassed tee to give some peps to your outfit. The addition is simple, but to keep a chic street style image, throw on a white blazer (Zara has a very cute selection for these) and gift yourself with a cool pair of shades (Cat-eyed Celines are by far my favourite, this year! [Don't own a pair, but they're smacking]). Smooth leather backpacks  are everywhere this summer, too, and Topshop's summer collection has a few.

The Posh - This look is great for work but a tad too formal for school. The base of the oufit is a simple white dress. To give it that elegant look, you must dress it up with accessories. This season, I am loving bold necklaces and especially the genre I chose in the outfit, above. Clutches with a metallic reflection modernise the ensemble, too. For the shoes white/nude stilettos are great - But not for school: Go for a chic pair of loafers, or comfy flats. The picture shows the famous Valentino it-shoes. I couldn't resist! They're just too fab!

The Cool - It's relaxed but complex. A jumper for summer? I believe it's fine as long as it's a very light material. Don't go for polyester, though; Synthetic fabrics are always warmer. Side note: I just discovered the new Kenzo tops, which are completely rad (especially this eye). This latter would be great to pair up with a pair of folded skorts! I've been dreading for one of these. This whole outfit would be finished with chunky white shoes. This edgy style has been very popular this year! An optional pair of socks? Sure, but it's summer, so choose wisely. To really complete the look, I've spotted this magnetising white clutch in Zara, which is too cool, too cute - too coote!

Tip: To get accepted into the school, choose a nude pair of tights. Yes, indeed, there is no logic, since they are see-through. But as long you've got the tights, you've got accessibility.

Why choose white?
  • It won't grill you like wurst on a barbecue
  • It goes with any type of skin (darker pigmentation  a nice glow ; lighter pigmentation  a smooth, soft porcelain skin)
  • It's cool... In both ways! (Excuse the pun)
